  • About Me: A short account of my journey in Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan, so that I may paint a picture of my historical and current lineage: I began training at a young age, five (1981) or six years old (1982), at Southerton’s Karate in Newburgh NY. I have early memories of training when Mr. D. Southerton (Dan Bon 19192) was a Sam Dan. I trained for a total of about ten years and during that time, in 1989 I received my Cho Dan (my Dan Bon 28507) at the 83rd Dan Classing Championship under then Master D. Southerton Sa Bom. During my training, I had the honor and privilege of meeting such amazing members of the Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan family as Master Russ Hanke Sa Bom (Dan Bon 4137) and Master Mary Ann Walsh Sa Bom (Dan Bon 17926). I then took a pause in training for many years due to the rigors and joys of high school, college, career, and family. Let me now fast forward to the spring of 2016. My boys (then nine and seven years old) were interested in beginning karate lessons, so I brought them to Frampton’s Karate. I remember Mr. E. Frampton (Dan Bon 26245) back in the 1980s at Southerton’s as an Ee Dan. So, my boys started training and I then picked up and continued my journey with Master Frampton Sa Bom. Shortly after in 2017, Master J. Fry KDJ (Dan Bon 42849) took over Frampton’s. At Fry’s Karate, I also have the pleasure and honor to train under/with Master M. Berardinelli Sa Bom (Dan Bon 26573). Henceforth, my current lineage in Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan is Kwan Jang Nim Hwang Kee (0), Kwan Jang Nim H. C. Hwang (509), Master F. Bonsignore Sa Bom (15805), Master M. Berardinelli Sa Bom (26573), Master J. Fry KDJ (42849), and then me, Mr. C. Wright YDJ (28507).
